The Women in Engineering (WiE) program was established to create an environment for all student’s professional development while encouraging women to participate fully and equitably in the engineering profession. The WiE Student Council, a group of undergraduate and graduate students, is committed to providing events, workshops and networking opportunities that are open to all students. The program was created by women faculty and students to recruit and retain female students within the Engineering discipline at UBC. The program is committed to gender equity and supports this student population via programming that includes (but is not limited to) career and leadership development workshops and outreach initiatives.
The structure of WiE is based around Committees with undergraduate and graduate committee chairs. These committees are:
- Community Building
- Professional Development
- Women in Computer Science and Engineering (WiCSE)
