The Advocacy Committee plays a crucial role in increasing WiE’s visibility within the UBC Engineering community and promoting the retention of minorities in engineering. They bring to light the inequalities that women may face in male-dominated fields and work towards eliminating these inequalities by increasing awareness and collective action. The Advocacy Committee also aims to engage men and/or  masculine-presenting students with WiE’s mission and values to make engineering more welcoming for all students. This may take the form of presentations and workshops for UBC Engineering students (classes, student teams, etc.) to address barriers that minorities in engineering face, such as imposter syndrome and unconscious bias
